THE WAY I BLOG

I think almost every blogger went through the phase where they would blog loads, then not blog for weeks, then write up an 'apology' post to say sorry to readers for not posting everyday. But I have finally come the realisation that I am blogging for myself just as much as everyone else, so I will blog when I want too, when I feel I have a good enough reason to blog and if I have the time! If I don't go by these rules that I have set myself it all becomes a bit of a chore and I don't want that at all.

Ive come up with a few pointers that I follow, to try and help others:

Be in the mood.
Make sure you feel as though you want to blog, don't force yourself to write up a post or take some blog photos. If you're not feeling it, it really does show through the way that you write and through the quality of your photos. Maybe take an hour or two to do something you enjoy, or make yourself a brew and then go back to writing a post when you feel motivated.

Get comfortable.
I usually blog from the comforts of my bed, or a cushions chair. With a hot cup of tea, biscuits and treats and light smelt candles around my room just to create a nice atmosphere around me while I write up my posts. Obviously this may not be the way that everyone else does it, but just make yourself comfortable and you will blog well!

Find inspiration.
Read other blogs, magazines, books, look at the world around you. Gain inspiration from everything! You can literally blog about anything that you want, your experiences, other peoples experiences, what you want to do, go, see, what you are wearing, what you are going to wear, what you wish you could wear... The list is never ending!

Map out your ideas.
I usually make a list of all my ideas, and map out what I want to include in each post. I have a little 'blog book' that I jot down all my thoughts that I want to write about. I don't plan out a blogging schedule because thats when I feel it all gets a bit difficult to keep up with my blog as well as an everyday routine (with me being at University, I have to give myself some time to do actual work as well!)

Blog!
Once you feel ready, comfy and organised just blog away! Who knows where it will take you!

What is your blogging routine? Is it similar to mine?

OOTD: JERSEY SKIRT

Choker: Ebay | Necklace: Handmade | Shirt: River Island | Top: Topshop | Skirt: Primark | Dr Martens: The Doc Shop | Watch: Casio

I took these outfit photos the other week before I went on my holidays to magaluf and my new start in my University house for second year, so I am writing this in my new room and surroundings now that I am settled again!

This was a 'I have no clothes to wear, I will just throw this on' kind of outfit that actually worked quite well. The skirt I found in Primark just after I almost splashed out an arm and a leg for the Zara version, which I was more than happy about! The shirt I picked up in the River Island sale around this time last year, I got it in a size 12 so that I can wear it oversized as I think it works a lot better when its longer. Of course the Docs are coming out in full force again now the weather is getting abit chillier, they still have to be my favourite footwear that I have bought!

What are you pulling out of the back of the wardrobes for autumn/winter?

OOTD: FLORAL MIDI

Top: Charity Shop | Choker: Ebay | Belt: Charity Shop | Skirt: Primark | Watch: Casio | Sunglasses: Accessorize | Shoes: Ebay

A bit of a different kind of post today, normally I'm wearing docs or some other form of flat shoe. But I thought I would give you an insight in how I would 'dress up' given a fancy occasion. I picked this skirt up in Primark a few months ago, wary about how it would look on me because of the length but I love it! It shows my body shape well and makes my legs look even longer when I am wearing heels with it. The top I picked up in a charity shop as well as the belt for a few pounds and I think they just create a quirky vintage look paired with the skirt.

I think a little gurney looking is definitely my comfort zone, hence why I added the clumpy shoes and choker necklace. I mean, you can't have me looking too girly, its weird! haha. The sunglasses add a classic edge to the look just to finish it off. Overall I love this look, I might even adjust it slightly so I can wear it out in the daytime.

What do you think to dressing up for occasions? What is your go to style?

OOTD: BIRKS & RIPS

Coat: Primark | Top: Topshop | Jeans: Topshop | Sandals: Primark | Clutch: Topshop | Belt: Charity Shop | Watch: Casio | Choker: Ebay

I wore this outfit out for dinner the other day, we went for an italian as a hangover cure! Luckily I wasn't feeling too bad, but I can't speak for my friends haha! I wanted a casual vibe so I went for these ripped jeans that I picked up in the Topshop Sale recently for around £25 and a plain tshirt. The sandals I went with purely for comfort but they looked quite good with the look so that was a bonus!

This coat is my recent find from Primark! It was £12 (I think) and I have been wearing it constantly since buying it. It has that 'olsen twin' look about it and I am obsessed with them so obviously Im going to wear it to death haha!

Any recent bargains you have picked up? Looks you have been loving?

M.A.C RED BY MAC

Everyone loves a red lip? Right? I myself am partial to a red lip every now and then when I feel the need to look sophisticated and sassy. I like to pair red lips with a simple and plain outfit so that I don't look too full on and in your face and makeup wise I  leave my eyes rather plain so that all of the attention is focused on the pout!

When working at the airport I was able to buy wonderful products at discounted products including things from MAC Cosmetics, hence why I picked this beautiful shade of lipstick up while I was there! Its quite a deep shade of red with blue tones, which I quite like as it looks powerful, its a satin finish so its a matt finish with a slight shine to it which still keeps the lips feeling moisturised. The staying power is a bonus swell with a red lipstick as it stains the lips giving a lasting effect. I am definitely happy with this purchase and can't wait to style it up with different looks!

What do you think to MAC Cosmetics lipsticks? What is your favourite shade/finish?

OOTD: LITTLE BOOTS

Hat: Topshop | Necklace: Topshop | Top: Topshop | Skirt: Miss Selfridge | Boots: ASOS | Watch: Citizen | Lipstick: Lasting Finish Matte By Kate '110'

So September is here and I am already excited for autumn to come around so I can bring all the tights and warm coats out from the back of my closet. However at the moment it is still quite warm, rainy yes, but still a tad muggy so the tights can stay where they are for now! Just a quick simplistic outfit here, I added the hat to really add another dimension to the look making it look a little more sophisticated and mature looking. I also left it simple without much jewellery to keep it looking chic.

I've posted about this lip colour before, and I am still as obsessed with it as I was back then. Its slightly brighter than a classic red lip and matte finish so it keeps the lips looking fresh and bold with great staying power all the time.

What have your season transition outfit been like?

NEW BUYS: BOHO JEWELS

All 3 Necklaces: Topshop

Summer sales, I love them. In fact any sales in general I love, I just can't get enough. Even if I don't need anything I will always end up leaving a shop with something from a sale, I think I have a problem aha! Anyway, enough rambling. I was in Topshop the other day returning something and I just went over to have a nose at the jewellery sale and to my delight I came across some beauties that I had been searching for for ages.

I can't remember the original prices of these necklaces but I doubt they were over £12, but I managed to get them for £3.50 each. They have a boho, Coachella vibe about them perfect for the festival season layered with chokers and other chains. Pair them with some tiny gold hoop earrings and some gold rings and you're good to go! I can't wait to style these up when I go to Reading Festival next month.

Have you picked up any bargains in the summer sales?

OOTD: LILAC & MINT

Sunglasses: Primark | Top: Charity Shop | Belt: Charity Shop | Skirt: American Apparel | Rings: Accessorize & Primark | Watch: Casio | Sandals: Primark

The sun is out and its booming! I love how it makes everyone so much happier when it's nice out, and I also love being able to go out without having to cover up with a coat or wrap a scarf around you to keep you warm. I had to pop to the post office today to send off some depop orders that I had managed to sell! (check out my depop, username: @toria_adkins) so I threw on this ensemble as a quick outfit but I think it turned out quite nicely! This shirt I managed to find in my local charity shop, its a size 12 which is double what I actually am but I think it looks ok and I thought it was totally cute so I needed to have it at a mere £2. This skirt I got last year as a birthday gift and I have only really started wearing it this summer which is shocking because I actually love it to bits and it goes so well with almost everything I try it on with!

What have you been wearing in the sun? What are your summer essentials?

NEW BUYS: HOLOGRAPHIC SANDALS

Shock, Victoria's bought something from Primark again! I couldn't miss this opportunity though, as I I had been looking at this exact type of shoe on ebay, Lamoda, Public Desire, etc. about to spend £20-£30 pound, when I stumbled upon these beauties in Primark. They look exactly the same, and are probably made of the same quality materials which is a bargain at only £14!

I think these may become my new 'going out' shoes as I just can't seem to hack heels in clubs and pubs anymore. Ive become a 'Flats for the win!' kind of girl lately and with the low, flatform type of heel these will be more than comfortable. I can't wait to style them with fishnet socks and colourful frilly ones too as I'm not that keen on toes haha!

Picked up any bargains recently?

OOTD: THE LEVI SHIRT

Levi Shirt: Charity Shop | Tshirt: Topshop | Jeans: Primark | Boots: Topshop | Necklace: Ebay | Rings: Left River Island, Right Topshop | Watch: Casio | Bag: Topshop

Just come across this ootd that should have been posted ages ago (my hair is considerably shorter now!) I can't remember if there was any reason for me not posting this before but here we go anyway! A casual look for the shops or running errands, as the jeans and shirt are quite laid back and easygoing. I added the slightly heeled boots for a bit more edge and to make it look less like I had jumped out of bed and just thrown anything on.

A little bit of jewellery on this outfit to fit the less is more vibe. If you add too many accessories to some outfits it can look a tad crazy and over the top so majority of the time I tend to play it safe. This may be a bad thing sometimes as a little crazy can be good from time to time right?

What have you been up to lately? Any holidays?

HOLIDAY PACKING: BEAUTY

This is the followup to my 'Holiday Packing: Fashion' post, where I shall be sharing with you the beauty items that I am taking to Rome with me this Wednesday. There aren't a lot as I am only taking hand luggage so I have to take little sample pots of everything because of flight limits and things, also I shall be putting them in a small ziplock bag when I travel.
Bourgois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation | Benefit They're Real Mascara | MUA Mosaic Bronzer
Nivea Suncream | Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic | Witch Blemish Stick | Sanex Moisturising Shower gel
Nivea Firming Body Oil | Aveeno Moisturiser | L'oreal Conditioner | L'oreal Shampoo
- Rather than lugging bottles of body creams and shampoos across the world I have found some samples that I had lying around from events and things to take with me instead.
Mouthwash Sample | Nivea Express Hydration Primer | Toothpaste | Nivea Essential Care Lipbalm | Benefit Its Potent Eye Cream | Perfume samples | Eyelash Glue
- I have semi permanent eyelashes at the minute to save me sticking on false ones while I am away so the glue is incase they start to get messy
Hairspray | VO5 Instant Boost Powder | Mitchum Deodorant | Argain Oil

I am starting to get very excited for my trip now, only a few hours left until I travel up to Stanstead! I feel like a child before Christmas aha! All I need to do now is pack a few more items in my case and I am good to go.

How organised are you before holidays? Where are you off to this summer?

OOTD: GAGA

Hat: Topshop | Leather Jacket: Topshop | Tshirt: Gaga Tour | Necklace: Charity Chop | Rings: Accessorize | Skirt: Topshop | Belt: Charity Shop | Socks: Primark | Dr Martens: The Doc Shop

How unpredictable is the weather at the minute!? I mean, I don't know whether to risk it and go out summery and get rained on or layer up and sweat buckets because I'm dressed for the arctic! This time I managed to get it right as it was a tad chilly so I'm glad I stuck the jacket and socks on. Another overall rock chick kind of vibe going on within my outfit, but if you know it works why change right? The purple check skirt adds colour and a bit of a 'clueless' look to the outfit - who doesn't want to look like they've stepped right out of the 90s! I topped it off with my Doc Martens that I picked up from The Doc Shop around a year ago for £30! (see my recent Doc Shop post here)

What do you think of 90s fashion? Is it still on trend?

As I mentioned in my Chit Chat post (here) I am off to Rome this Wednesday and I am so excited I could pee my pants! - but I won't, because I may get some funny looks from people. Within this post is the fashion items that I am going to pack for my travels. I am going from Wednesday - Sunday so I'm not taking an awful lot as it will have to fit in my hand luggage.  Crochet dress: H&M | Sandals: Primark
Smock Dress: Primark | Sandals: Primark | Bumbag: Primark
